Target Audience

Physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, office nurses, emergency department nurses, clinic nurses, school nurses, respiratory therapists, and other allied health professionals responsible for asthma management in the outpatient setting in the community at large within West Michigan.

 
 Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
 
  • Discuss the new National Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma: EPR-3 and the evidence base for their development.
  • Recognize the scope and significance of ethnic disparities with respect to asthma prevalence, morbidity and mortality.
  • Describe a unique community-based tool set for addressing asthma disparities.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Michigan State Medical Society Committee on CME Accreditation  through the joint sponsorship of the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center and the Asthma Network of West Michigan. The Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center is accredited by the Michigan State Medical Society Committee on CME Accreditation to provide continuing medical Education for physicians. The Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The College of Pharmacy, Ferris State University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmaceutical  education.  ACPE Universal Program Number: 028-999-07-039-L01

This program, in its entirety, has been approved for 2 hours of continuing education credit (0.2 CEUs) in states that recognize ACPE approved providers.  This program is being offered as a one-time offering.  To receive credit for the program, participants must fill out and submit a Continuing Education Credit Request Form and an Evaluation Form at the conclusion of the program.  Statements of Credit will be mailed to participants 4 – 6 weeks following the program.
